Forest is a warm, cosy, relaxed, and rustic restaurant on Low Petergate in York, with the magnificent York Minster just a few steps away.

Proudly housed within Galtres Lodge Hotel, Forest was named after the ancient "Royal Forest of Galtres which once extended to the York city walls.

Inside, stunning features showcase the Georgian history of the building; original oak beams, exposed brick walls, and traditional fireplaces.

During the daytime, Forest is a relaxing setting to enjoy locally sourced breakfasts and lunches, home-made cakes, and a unique afternoon tea. In the evening, the lights go down and the music goes up, and the a la carte menu comes in to its own, offering dishes to showcase more of chef’s finesse.
