New Indie York Chair Appointed
Indie York Appoints A New Chair
Indie York (York Independent Business Association) is pleased to announce the appointment of their new Chair, Rebecca Hill. She was elected by the current Steering Committee. Rebecca has been an active member of the Steering Committee and is committed to growing the membership, collaborating with other York organisations and working with stakeholders to ensure Indie York is at the forefront of all things ‘Indie’ in York.
Rebecca has this to say about her appointment: "I am delighted to have been voted in as Chair of Indie York. My partner and I run Galtres Lodge Hotel and Forest restaurant on Low Petergate; and we are so proud to be a member of Indie York alongside so many wonderful, diverse, dynamic and exciting independent businesses. All of us on the Steering Committee were so sorry when Johnny decided to step down as Chair, however after 6 years in the role, we all agree that he deserves the break! Nobody will be able to fill Johnny’s shoes, but for the past few weeks we have already been working on a strategy to ensure that Indie York continues to thrive. The Steering Committee share a wide range of expertise and after a tough 12 months we all remain dedicated to supporting York’s Indies through recovery and beyond.”
Johnny Hayes, who recently stepped down as Chair of Indie York, had been in the Chair role since the association’s inception in 2016. He had this to say about Rebecca’s appointment;
"I am delighted that Rebecca Hill has been elected as new Chairperson for Indie York. Rebecca is a really excellent and hard-working person who will, without doubt, help to move Indie York forward into the future. I am sure she will do a great job and will be supported by all concerned."
